Americover’s Black/White 12 mil string reinforced polyethylene is our top selling plastic liner for crawl space application.This is excellent for applications that demand exceptional impact or puncture resistance in addition to brute tear resistance. The white outer layer is designed to reduce heat build up and condensation in covering applications.  Both the black and white outer layers are protected against thermal and UV degradation with carbon black or thermal and UV stabilizers. In crawl space liner applications the white plastic side would be faced up to give a clean feeling to the crawlspace.
This is a material that is manufactured using a mix of virgin polyethylene resins. The resin is formed into skins that act as the “bread” to the reinforced “sandwich”. To manufacturer this product we use a black polyethylene skin on one side and a white polyethylene skin on the other. The skins encapsulate a grid pattern of polyester yarn, and a hot sheet of polyethylene, to form a very strong five layer product appropriate for multiple applications. This reinforced product is characterized by its excellent tear strength at the yarn, and its outstanding elongation properties that are provided by the open areas between the strings (scrim).
