Protection of your cargo while in transit can be as important as the shipping itself. In order to make sure your items make it to the destination without damage you need to use the right material. Heat shrink wrap can provide you the options and protection you need for any type of cargo you need to transport.
- The protection you need.
Heat shrink wrap comes in a variety of mil thicknesses depending on your need. But if you need to provide a serious barrier and protect your cargo, go with at least a 9 or 12 mil. The thicker the material the less likely there will be tears or holes while in the elements. Our heat shrink wrap is made from virgin polyethylene meaning the material is free of impurities and will not contain holes or other recycled materials that could weaken material. Americovers 9 and 12 mil come with fire retardant additives as well as ultraviolet inhibitor additives to ensure the long lasting life of the material. In addition to those characteristics, we can also throw in additives to inhibit rust or make the material anti-microbial.
- All shapes and sizes can be wrapped.
Ever wonder how a helicopter is transported? Or how about an air conditioning unit? Well, both can be protected with heat shrink wrap. This ability to wrap a variety of objects, both oddly shaped and normal, is the main reason heat shrink wrap is so commonly used to protect cargo. Americover has a variety of sizes to choose from so you can get the perfect size to protect your cargo.
- Inclement weather? No problem.
Bad weather does not affect the characteristics of heat shrink wrap. If you are shipping your cargo, whether by land or sea, expect it to be subjected to all types of weather good or bad. Heat shrink wrap is used so commonly for bad weather, that during the winter months, many people protect and store their boats using heat shrink wrap. What if the weather is so bad it creates a tear or hole? If it is small enough just patch it with tape. If it is a larger hole, all you have to do is grab some excess material, simply place it over the hole and heat it. Patched! If you have questions about the best mil thickness or color for your application, call in to Americover and talk with an expert!
- Its actually simple to perform.
Once you have a heat gun, gloves, tape and the material you are ready to wrap your object. If this is your first time you might want to try out some smaller objects so you can get used to the product.
