As more and more states legalize cannabis, there is more opportunity for cannabis growers like you to enhance plant growth, especially through greenhouse light dep techniques. Expanding to exterior greenhouses for growth is a game-changer, but it’s best to use the right tools so you can grow a profitable harvest. Your light deprivation covers, for example, can have a significant impact on the growth of your buds such as blocking light and protecting crops. Using the wrong light dep cover could result in an abundance of seeds or a ruined crop altogether.
Light Deprivation Covers for Cannabis Growers
Light deprivation covers are used by growers to block light and manipulate the flowering cycle. This technique is great for cannabis growers to improve the quality of their buds, as well as increase the yield of their harvest. If you’re thinking about growing your cannabis in a light deprivation greenhouse, you will want to consider a few things before setting it up. For example, the size of your greenhouse, how you plan to ventilate it, irrigation techniques, light deprivation pulling techniques, and whether you’ll use an interior or exterior light deprivation system.
While both an interior and exterior light deprivation cover give you the control to block light for whichever light dep cycle you choose, they cannot be used interchangeably. Discover the differences below.

Interior Light Deprivation Covers
First and foremost, interior light deprivation covers cannot be used for exterior purposes. The material of an interior cover is created for indoor applications and, unless noted, may not guarantee protection when used as an exterior product. Qualities such as puncture resistance or weathering the elements are not necessary for interior light dep covers. Because it is not used outdoors, the lifespan of an interior light deprivation cover can last for years, with little to no maintenance. However, indoor applications tend to be more costly because there are other elements involved, such as additional framing, making it more complicated in function and installation.

Exterior Light Deprivation Covers
Exterior light deprivation covers are built to withstand weather conditions and protect your plants outside. Using this product for indoor applications would not be optimal for your growing needs. With fewer moving parts than indoor systems, outdoor greenhouses tend to be more cost-effective for light deprivation especially in commercial-sized use. Exterior light dep covers are easier to install than their interior light dep counterparts. However, because exterior light deprivation covers are exposed to the elements it will lead to more long-term maintenance costs.
