Grow Products for Aquaponics
Aquaponics is a food production system that combines Aquaculture (farming of aquatic organisms like fish) and Hydroponics (growing plants without soil). Aquatic by-product is broken down into nitrates and nitrites that serve as nutrients to the plants. An aquaponics system produces fish and other aquatic animals while growing various types of vegetables in a symbiotic environment.
With climate change and the current environmental impacts affecting water and food supply, we must explore ways to grow sustainably. Here are some of the different companies and organizations currently utilizing aquaponics farming techniques to feed our communities:
- All food-producing companies
- Non-profit organizations
- Restaurants
- Schools/Colleges
- Nursing homes
- Businesses growing farm-to-table foods
Grow Products for Light Deprivation
Light deprivation greenhouse growing techniques are ideal for those looking to improve their horticultural potential. A light-deprivation system allows growers to control the exact amount of light exposure, yielding multiple benefits for their crops. By using blackout tarps to simulate different seasons and times of day, growers can increase their yield and even create multiple harvests.
Light deprivation greenhouses manage light and darkness to coax plants into flowering at specific times, reducing their typical maturation period. Here are some of the crops that respond the best to light deprivation growing techniques:
- Cannabis
- Strawberries
- Chrysanthemums
- Onions
- Soybeans
- Hemp
Grow Products for Silage Piles
Silage tarps are thick plastic sheets, usually around 5-6 mils thick. They are traditionally used to cover harvested crops such as hay, silage, or grain. By creating a tight seal, silage tarps help prevent excess oxygen from seeping in, which helps preserve crops and prevent mold by also keeping condensation out.
Silage tarps are also great for managing weeds. When placed on the soil ahead of planting, they will mitigate any existing weeds, and prevent new ones from sprouting. As a result, silage tarps are one of the most cost-effective ways to reduce weed problems so that you can focus more time on harvesting. Here are the most common uses for silage tarps:
- Yield protection
- Weed suppression
- Stale seed bedding
- No-till farming
- Heating soil ahead of planting
- Drying soil to hasten planting seasons
